The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) announced today that a mobile phone suspected of transmitting sensitive information to drug syndicates has been confiscated. This was confirmed by the Commander, Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, during the End-of-Year Parade.

In his address, Major-General Kalouniwai revealed that he had ordered an investigation into one of the RFMF personnel following reports that a specific mobile number was being used to leak details regarding the military’s plans and operations to external criminal organizations. The phone in question was seized, and the individual involved has been questioned and placed on leave to facilitate an independent investigation.

The Commander emphasized the RFMF’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities, warning members of the force about the serious consequences of such behavior. “This sends a strong message: we cannot take matters into our own hands, and any participation in unlawful actions will be dealt with firmly,” he stated, underscoring the military’s commitment to maintaining integrity within its ranks.

The swift action taken by the RFMF serves to reinforce the importance of accountability and the protection of national security, assuring the public that measures are in place to address any threats posed by internal misconduct. Such decisive leadership paves the way for a more secure and transparent military environment in Fiji.
