Fiji Military Forces undergo major restructuring and modernization plan

The Ministry of Home Affairs plans to restructure and reform the Republic of Fiji Military Forces to boost efficiency, establish the Joint Logistics Command, and implement the Automated Logistics Management Systems.

Minister Pio Tikoduadua discussed these intentions while debating the 2024-2025 National Budget in Parliament today.

Tikoduadua emphasized the RFMF’s ongoing dedication to protecting Fiji and contributing to global peacekeeping. He stated that the proposed initiatives aim to streamline operations, cut costs, and enhance capabilities.

“Our naval division continues to safeguard our vast Exclusive Economic Zone and support maritime operations crucial to our national security and economic interests. Surveillance of Fiji’s EEZ and conducting maritime search and rescue missions are essential to our sovereignty and economic well-being,” he said.

Tikoduadua noted that the budget reflects the Government’s commitment to the safety, security, and prosperity of all Fijians. He highlighted a holistic approach, addressing immediate challenges while preparing for the future by equipping defence forces and police with modern tools and technology.

“The investment we make today will build a safer and more secure Fiji for tomorrow. A nation where businesses can thrive without fear of disruption, where communities are united and cohesive, and where every citizen feels protected and valued. This is our vision for Fiji – a vision of prosperity built on a foundation of security and stability,” Tikoduadua concluded.
