Fiji Military Forces Launch Groundbreaking Reconciliation Event

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces is hosting the inaugural RFMF Reconciliation and Restoration event at the Sukunaivalu Barracks in Labasa.

The day’s activities commenced with a church service that set a reflective tone for what is anticipated to be a meaningful occasion of healing.

Following the service, a series of talanoa sessions will take place, led by the Commander of the RFMF, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, along with former military personnel who participated in the takeover of the Sukunaivalu VC Barracks.

Originally, the event was set to conclude with a traditional Fijian reconciliation ceremony, known as veisorosorovi, in which the RFMF would seek forgiveness in a significant act of reconciliation. However, this particular segment has been postponed and will now occur tomorrow.

On that day, the RFMF plans to extend this act by seeking forgiveness from the Province of Macuata in a ceremonial event that aligns with Fijian customs.
