Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, the President of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma, has shared heartfelt Christmas greetings with the people of Fiji, encouraging them to reflect on the deeper meaning of the holiday season. He emphasized that Christmas serves as a poignant reminder for families, villages, and communities to unite in gratitude for God’s love.
According to Rev. Turagavou, the celebration of Christmas revolves around the birth of Jesus Christ, which he described as a pivotal event in the Christian calendar. This occasion highlights God’s presence in the world and His unwavering love for humanity. “A meaning that we celebrate not only the coming of God from heaven to earth, but we are celebrating the presence of Christ in our world. We celebrate the love of God. God loves everyone,” he stated.
The Methodist Church President pointed out that regardless of differences in race or background, God’s love is all-encompassing and serves as a reminder of our shared humanity. He urged communities to prioritize unity during this festive period, recognizing Christmas as an opportunity to acknowledge God as the Creator and Sustainer. Furthermore, he called upon individuals to renew their commitment to caring for one another and nurturing the environment in which they live.
As the holiday season approaches, Rev. Turagavou’s message serves as a hopeful reminder of the power of love and unity in fostering stronger communities.
