The Fiji Men’s Netball Invitational team has set off for Melbourne, Australia, to take part in the 2025 Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association Championship. They will compete in the Reserve Grade division, participating in a total of 10 matches during the tournament.
This championship presents an invaluable opportunity for the players to garner international experience and face high-level competition. Fiji’s invitation comes on the heels of their strong performance at a tournament in Singapore last December, which garnered attention and enhanced the profile of men’s netball in the region.
Head Coach Jioweli Vakamoce expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming matches, noting the importance of these games in the team’s preparation for the Fiji Men’s International Series set for August. “We’re really looking forward to the challenge in Melbourne,” Vakamoce stated. “Playing 10 games in a competitive environment gives our players the chance to lift their performance and adapt under pressure. This tournament is crucial for assessing where we stand and what we need to improve before August.”
The AMMNA Championship will feature some of the top male and mixed netball teams from Australia. Fiji’s inclusion reinforces the growth of men’s netball in the Pacific, showcasing the emerging talent from the islands.
Netball Fiji has extended its best wishes to the team, thanking fans, families, and supporters for their ongoing support in bolstering men’s netball across the country. The tournament promises to be a significant test for the team and sets a positive tone for the upcoming competitions.
Fiji is set to face South Australia first, with the match scheduled for 1 PM on Sunday, marking an exciting start to their campaign.
