The Crest Fiji men’s netball team has achieved a historic milestone by winning the Men’s Nations Series in Singapore, marking their first-ever international tournament victory. Last night, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience by overcoming the Australia Under-23 side with a nail-biting score of 55-54 at the Jurong East Sporting Complex, avenging their earlier defeat of 48-60 in the pool match.
During the pool stage of the tournament, Fiji showcased their strong performance, defeating the England Trailblazers 47-36 in their opening match, dominating New Zealand with a score of 57-38, and overcoming the host nation with a commanding 62-27 victory. They ended the pool round with an impressive 82-20 win against Hong Kong, smoothly securing their advancement to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Fiji continued their winning streak by defeating England once again, with a score of 62-27, thus earning their seat in the final match.
This tournament marks the first overseas outing for a Fiji men’s netball team since the 2004 International Men’s Netball Championship in Melbourne, Australia.
