Fiji Men’s 7s coach Osea Kolinisau has affirmed that strengthening the defense will be a primary focus as the team prepares for the HSBC SVNS Series in Los Angeles next month. After a positive performance in Singapore, Kolinisau sees it as an opportunity to build on the lessons learned from previous tournaments.

The coach emphasized the importance of enhancing communication and understanding among players regarding their defensive positions. “We are working a lot on our defence. There’s still some weaknesses that we can improve on, especially in our communication and just knowing when to fall at the right time and when to hold and our one-on-ones,” he stated.

Kolinisau also commented on the necessary adjustments made between recent tournaments, particularly highlighting areas such as breakdown discipline and spacing on the field. As the team gears up, he praised the players’ ongoing efforts, suggesting that continued improvements could significantly impact their performance in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles 7s tournament is set to take place on the 3rd and 4th of next month, presenting an exciting platform for the Fiji team to showcase their skills. This commitment to refining their defensive strategies bodes well for their prospects, and fans remain hopeful for a strong showing as they aim for further successes on the international stage. The continuous focus on teamwork and strategic improvement can lead to promising outcomes in this critical upcoming tournament.
