Fiji’s National Sporting Federations are set to convene in Suva this weekend for an important workshop centered around performance improvement and athlete pathways. Organized by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC), the workshop will take place under the theme “Designing Performance: Tahiti 2027 as the Launchpad to Brisbane 2032.”
As the 2027 Pacific Games in Tahiti draw closer, the workshop aims to bolster Fiji’s performance systems, refine athlete development pathways, and ensure accountability across all sports. FASANOC’s chief executive, Vanessa Kilner, emphasized that the discussions and outcomes from this workshop will play a pivotal role in aligning performance planning, athlete development, and national expectations.
“This is about moving forward together with clarity, consistency, and shared responsibility,” Kilner stated, highlighting the workshop’s collaborative focus. The program is designed to encourage federation leaders and performance coaches to specify what success looks like in their respective sports and to outline actionable steps for achieving these objectives.
Scheduled for Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Suva, this workshop represents a proactive approach by Fiji’s sporting community to prepare for future competitions and to enhance the overall athletic landscape in the country. The outcomes of this initiative could lead to improved performance and greater success for athletes on both national and international stages.
