A 27-year-old man is facing charges from the Fiji Police M-PAiSA task force for allegedly deceiving individuals to gain financial benefits. The accusations stem from events that took place in August and September when he reportedly collected $150 from two victims for items he advertised for sale on Facebook but never delivered.

The man has been charged with two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and is scheduled to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court.

This case underscores the importance of awareness in online transactions and the need for vigilance when purchasing items from digital platforms. It’s hopeful to see law enforcement taking action against such deceptive practices, which serves as a reminder to consumers to be cautious and verify sellers before making any payments. Taking steps to report fraudulent activities not only protects individuals but also helps create a safer online marketplace for everyone.
