According to the police investigation, the victim discovered a car hire advertisement while scrolling through Facebook. Following the instructions in the post, the victim sent a deposit to secure the rental of a vehicle. However, attempts to contact the driver afterward were unsuccessful, leading the victim to report the incident to the Consumer Council.
