Fiji may soon adopt new nanomaterials and nanotechnology-based fertilizers from China, pending successful trials, according to Sugar Industry Minister Charan Jeath Singh. The minister recently met with a delegation from Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited at the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji (SRIF) in Lautoka to discuss potential fertilizers aimed at enhancing sugar and agricultural production in the country.
“The new fertilizers will undergo rigorous testing by the SRIF to assess their effectiveness,” Singh stated. “This represents a serious effort to boost the industry’s output and sustainability.”
Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited is recognized as a prominent agrochemical manufacturer in China. “We are enthusiastic about the collaboration and maximizing this opportunity,” said Vinesh Kumar, CEO of the institute. “This innovative strategy, leveraging nanomaterials and nanotechnology, provides a comprehensive solution for our agricultural requirements.”
The fertilizer trials are taking place on a low-production field in Rakiraki. Kumar noted, “In the coming months, we will compile enough data to validate the quality and effectiveness of the fertilizer suggested by Shenzhen King Quenson Industry.”
