Fiji Airways has celebrated a significant achievement with the arrival of Fiji Link’s newest ATR aircraft in Nadi, marking a pivotal step in the airline’s ongoing efforts to enhance both domestic and regional connectivity. The aircraft landed on January 7, having completed an impressive multi-day journey from Toulouse, France.
Throughout its delivery trip, the ATR made stops in various countries, including Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Solomon Islands, before reaching Fiji. Athil Narayan, Chief Fiji Link and Cargo Operations Officer, emphasized that this new addition to the fleet signifies more than just an upgrade—it represents an opportunity to further connect people and promote trade across Fiji and the wider Pacific region.
He stated, “Every new aircraft allows us to further strengthen domestic and regional connectivity. It brings people together and creates opportunities for connection, trade, and shared experiences across our islands and the Pacific.”
The introduction of this new ATR aircraft is anticipated to enhance Fiji Link’s operational capability, boasting improved fuel efficiency and performance in island environments, while also ensuring increased comfort for passengers. Fiji Link, the domestic and regional branch of Fiji Airways, has been instrumental in linking remote communities and facilitating inter-island travel, thereby boosting economic activity in Fiji’s outer islands.
Since its inception, Fiji Link has transformed from operating small turboprop aircraft to managing a modern fleet that caters to both local residents and international travelers. The arrival of the new ATR marks the next chapter in this evolution, reflecting the airline’s commitment to growth and connectivity within the archipelago and its Pacific neighbors. This initiative not only enhances travel for the citizens of Fiji but also strengthens trade and tourism, driving positive economic prospects for the region.
