FIJI Link has welcomed its newest ATR aircraft in Nadi, marking a significant milestone in its operations after a remarkable delivery journey that spanned eight countries. The aircraft, which originated from Toulouse, France, arrived in Fiji on January 7, making stops in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Solomon Islands along the way.
Fiji Airways highlighted that this addition is not merely about fleet renewal, but rather an important step in bolstering both domestic and regional connectivity. Athil Narayan, Chief Fiji Link and Cargo Operations Officer, emphasized the broader impact of the new aircraft, stating, “This new ATR is more than a fleet renewal. Every new aircraft allows us to further strengthen domestic and regional connectivity; it brings people together and creates opportunities for connection, trade, and shared experiences across our islands and the Pacific.”
The new ATR is designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency, enhanced performance suited for island environments, and greater comfort for passengers. Fiji Link intends to utilize this aircraft on key domestic routes, currently preparing it for its entry into service. This development is expected to not only enhance travel options for locals and tourists alike but also stimulate economic opportunities within the region, fostering a stronger sense of community.
