The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) has announced that restrictions on movement in the Western Division have been lifted. In an evening update, the NDRMO reported that there are currently eight active evacuation centers accommodating 79 households and a total of 350 evacuees in the region.
Today, the NDRMO facilitated the distribution of rations to those affected in these centers. Additionally, Ministry of Health teams are actively visiting all evacuation centers to provide necessary medical support.
Support efforts for the evacuees have included significant contributions such as:
– 100 bottles of water and four hygiene kits donated by Freezco and the Red Cross to four evacuation centers in Nadi.
– The Hare Rama Hare Krishna team has been providing food supplies to evacuees at the Korovuto evacuation center.
– Empower Pacific is offering vital psychosocial support at the evacuation centers in Nadi.
This collaborative response showcases the resilience of communities and the efforts of various organizations coming together to support those affected.
In summary, while challenges remain for the evacuees, the lifting of movement restrictions and the support from various sectors bring hope and relief to those in need.
