The Fiji Meteorological Service has officially lifted a series of heavy rain and flood warnings that had been in effect across various regions of the country. The heavy rain warning that applied to the western portion of Viti Levu, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, has now been rescinded.
Additionally, officials have cancelled the flash flood warnings that were previously issued for all of Viti Levu and the alerts concerning potential flash floods for Vanua Levu. The advisory for low-lying and flood-prone areas downstream of the Nakauvadra, Yaqara, Tavua, Ba, Nadi, and Nawaka rivers has also been lifted.
Despite these improvements, the Weather Office has indicated that the western half of Viti Levu, along with the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and the Southern Lau Group may still experience cloudy periods and some showers. Other regions can expect brief showers amidst cloudy conditions.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated with official weather reports as conditions continue to stabilize, ensuring safety and preparedness as the weather transitions. The easing of warnings brings a sense of relief to many, signaling brighter days ahead as communities recover from the recent weather events.
