Fiji’s Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, is actively participating in the 2025 World Police Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre, joining law enforcement leaders from around the globe to discuss the future of policing. Supported by the Australian Federal Police, this annual summit, hosted by the Dubai Police in cooperation with DXB LIVE, brings together various police officials, security experts, and policymakers to address critical issues impacting global law enforcement.

This year’s theme, “Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing,” highlights pressing challenges such as transnational crime, cyber threats, and the effects of rapid technological advancement. With over 300 speakers lined up, the event includes high-level talks and specialized conferences focused on these vital topics.

Commissioner Tudravu is scheduled to speak on a panel about “The Future of the Fight: What Needs to be Done to Combat Drug Trafficking in the Pacific,” where he will collaborate with New Zealand Police Commissioner Richard Chambers and Solomon Islands Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau. This engagement showcases Fiji’s commitment to sharing insights and strategies in tackling drug-related issues, a growing concern across the region.

Additionally, the summit offers a platform for Fiji to foster partnerships and exchange ideas with counterparts from various international law enforcement agencies, further solidifying its focus on cooperative approaches to enhance security in the Pacific.

The foundation laid by prior collaborations, such as the Pacific Policing Initiative and partnerships with the Australian Federal Police, is crucial in ensuring effective regional policing. These initiatives aim to improve resource sharing and operational readiness among Pacific nations, as highlighted by previous discussions on regional security strategies following Commissioner Tudravu’s attendance at the Pacific Island Chiefs of Policing Executive Leadership Team meetings.

Through continued cooperation and strategic planning, there is optimism that Fiji’s involvement in such international forums will lead to innovative solutions for pressing law enforcement challenges, ultimately fostering safer communities across the Pacific region.
