The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Fiji has established an Emergency Operations Centre at its headquarters in Suva to monitor the developing security situation in the Middle East. Officials have confirmed that there are currently no reports indicating that Fijian nationals have been directly affected by the recent events in the region.
Fiji’s embassies in Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi are actively in contact with local authorities and ensuring ongoing communication with Fijian citizens residing in the areas impacted by the unrest. The activation of the Emergency Operations Centre aims to enhance coordination of monitoring efforts and facilitate a timely consular response should circumstances worsen.
To further ensure the safety of its nationals, the Government has implemented a contingency plan that provides for adequate consular support to Fijians in the event of a worsening security situation. The Ministry emphasizes its commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of Fijian nationals abroad, reflecting a proactive approach to global challenges. This underscores the importance of governmental responsibility in safeguarding citizens in times of international crisis.
