Fiji National Women’s Football Head Coach Angeline Chua has announced the final 23-member squad for the upcoming OFC Women’s Nations Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Fiji next month. This selection combines seasoned players and promising young talents, including five overseas-based athletes expected to enhance the team’s performance.
Among the notable inclusions is dynamic forward Trina Davis, who plays for FC Olympia USLW in the United States and is making a much-anticipated return to the national team. Joining her is rising star Preeya Singh, a talented midfielder from the University of California, Merced, who has recently competed for Fiji at the Under-20 level.
Three players are set to make their senior international debuts with the Fiji Kulas: goalkeeper Ka’iulani Scott from Eastern Suburbs in New Zealand, midfielder Anisha Dwarka from Jessup University, USA, and midfielder Akanisi Sorovakarua from West Los Angeles College. Veteran midfielder Cema Nasau, currently with Eastern Suburbs FC, brings additional experience to the squad along with two other players, Adi Litia Bakaniceva and Maria Veronica, from Hekari United FC in Papua New Guinea.
The team is currently engaged in intensive training sessions in Ba before moving to Suva on June 26 to finalize preparations for their opening match against the Solomon Islands on July 5 at the HFC Bank Stadium. The Fiji Kulas have high ambitions following a strong performance in the 2022 edition where they finished as runners-up, as they now look to claim their first title on home ground.
The upcoming tournament represents not just a competitive challenge, but also an opportunity to inspire the next generation of female footballers in Fiji. With a mix of local and international players, the team embodies a commitment to advancing women’s football and showcases the growing interest and participation in this sport within the region.
