The Fiji Football Association is set to announce a new head coach for the Fiji Kulas later this week following the departure of Angeline Chua. Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf highlighted the urgency of the selection process, especially with the FIFA Women’s World Cup – Oceania Qualifiers approaching in March.
These qualifiers are crucial for the Kulas as they provide an opportunity to measure themselves against the region’s best teams and pave their way toward the global tournament. Yusuf emphasized the importance of ensuring a seamless transition in leadership, which is vital for maintaining the team’s preparation schedule.
“We understand how important this period is for the Kulas. Our priority is to appoint a coach who can quickly integrate with the players and technical staff and guide the team effectively into the World Cup qualifiers,” Yusuf stated.
He also took a moment to recognize Chua’s contributions during her time with the team and wished her well in her future endeavors. The Fiji Football Association remains committed to the long-term development of women’s football in the country.
Following the appointment of the new coach, the Kulas will kick off an intensive training regime, with local camps planned soon. This proactive approach underscores the association’s dedication to building a competitive team ready for the challenges ahead. With the right leadership, the Fiji Kulas are poised for an exciting journey toward the World Cup qualifiers, a hopeful avenue for the future of women’s football in Fiji.
