New Zealand’s Ka’iulani Scott has been selected as the only overseas player in the Fiji Kulas’ inaugural training squad for 2025. The 23-member squad is set to convene from February 3 to 7 at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba. This training camp signifies the beginning of rigorous preparations for key tournaments, prominently including the OFC Women’s Nations Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Oceania Qualifiers.
The camp is the first of five scheduled for the year, focused on enhancing player skills, fostering team unity, and strategizing for upcoming challenges. The dedicated sessions will emphasize tactical development, physical conditioning, and teamwork. In an exciting addition, players will have the chance to gain valuable experience by facing the Maori Women’s National Team in a friendly on February 6.
The Fiji Kulas squad comprises notable talents including Elesi Tabunase, Sisilia Kuladina, Sereana Naweni, and many others, highlighting a blend of emerging and seasoned players as they embark on their ambitious journey for the year ahead.
This initiative reflects Fiji’s commitment to advancing women’s football in the region, building on the progress made by the Young Kulas, who created history by being the first Fijian women’s team to qualify for a world-level tournament. The evolution of women’s football in Fiji is an encouraging sign for aspiring athletes in the region, presenting them with platforms to showcase their skills and compete at higher levels.
Looking ahead, the Kulas will strive to harness the potential of their mix of experienced players and fresh talents, aiming to make significant strides on the international stage while inspiring the next generation of female athletes.
