The Fijian government has warmly congratulated the Republic of Korea in honor of its National Foundation Day. Chief Justice Salesi Temo, representing Fiji’s President, participated in the celebratory event along with Cabinet Ministers and various members of the diplomatic community.
During the event, the Chief of Protocol, Mrs. Kiti Temo, delivered remarks that conveyed Fiji’s heartfelt congratulations and highlighted the strong partnership the two nations have enjoyed over 54 years of diplomatic relations. Fiji and Korea continue to enhance their cooperation across key development sectors, which include renewable energy, healthcare, education, agriculture, and climate resilience.
Korea’s support through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is particularly noteworthy, with 13 active projects in Fiji valued at over USD $72 million. These initiatives reflect the depth of bilateral ties between the two countries. As Fiji commemorates this significant occasion, it also reaffirms its dedication to collaborating with Korea toward creating a sustainable and secure future for their citizens.
This ongoing partnership positions Fiji favorably, especially as they approach the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year. The commitment to mutual support serves not only to enhance local standards of living but also to contribute positively to sustainable development in the Pacific region, aligning with the global efforts towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The spirit of collaboration between Fiji and Korea brings a hopeful outlook to their shared endeavors for years to come.
