The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has officially recognized and endorsed the Civic Awareness Campaign initiated by the Ministry of Local Government as part of the preparations for the upcoming Local Government Elections. This launch signifies a pivotal step as Fiji gears up for a highly anticipated electoral event.
Acting Deputy Supervisor of Elections, Anaseini Senimoli, expressed enthusiasm for this awareness initiative, which marks the formal beginning of election preparations across the nation. Senimoli emphasized the importance of the campaign, noting that it reflects over two years of consultation and collaboration among the Ministry, Municipal Councils, and various partners.
The Civic Awareness Campaign aims to enhance community understanding of local government functions, the role of elected councillors, and the significance of participating in elections. This initiative is designed to empower citizens and encourage active involvement in the democratic process.
The launch program not only introduced the Civic Awareness Campaign but also included technical sessions focused on election administration resources and civic education messaging, ensuring that participants are well-equipped with essential information as the election date approaches. This collaborative effort promotes informed participation, fostering a democratic environment in Fiji as it moves forward in its electoral journey.
