The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing to compete in the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Fiji’s head coach, Marika Rodu, has shared his confidence in the team’s readiness as they enter the final preparations.
“The preparation is well underway as we come into our last week of training. The girls are in good condition and are getting ready for the first match against Tonga,” Rodu stated to Fiji FA Media.
He anticipates a tough opener against Tonga, recognizing that the first match can be particularly challenging. “We do not expect the match against Tonga to be easy, as the first match is always difficult. Our focus is to settle down and immediately get into the game,” Rodu explained.
The coach also pointed out Tonga’s defensive strategy, noting their use of a low block which could present challenges for Fiji. Nonetheless, Rodu remains optimistic, stating, “We will look into that and aim to secure three points on Sunday.”
The match is scheduled to start at 3 PM.
