The Fiji Junior Kulas are gearing up for the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which is set to begin on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Marika Rodu has conveyed his confidence in the team’s preparations as they approach the final week leading up to the tournament.
Rodu remarked, “The preparation is well underway, and we are in our last week of preparation. The girls are in good condition and getting ready for our first match against Tonga.” He foresees a tough opening match, as the inaugural game is often the most challenging.
He stated, “We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be easy since the first match is always difficult, but the plan is to settle down and get straight into the game.” Rodu pointed out Tonga’s defensive style, highlighting their tendency to adopt a low block, which could pose challenges for Fiji in breaking through.
Despite these challenges, Rodu remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, expressing, “We will address that and aim to secure the three points on Sunday.” The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
