The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing for the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which will begin on Sunday at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium. Head coach Marika Rodu has shared his confidence regarding the team’s preparations as they approach the final week.
“The preparation is going well, and we are in our final week, trying to keep things steady. The girls are in good shape and ready for our first match against Tonga,” Rodu stated.
He expects a tough opening match against Tonga, noting that the first game can often be the most challenging. “We don’t anticipate an easy match against Tonga because the first match is usually difficult, but the idea is to settle in and get straight into the game,” he added.
Rodu emphasized Tonga’s strong defensive play, recognizing their tendency to adopt a low defensive block, which could pose challenges for Fiji in breaking through their defense. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, asserting, “We will work on this and aim to secure three points on Sunday.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
