Fiji Junior Bula Boys Ready for OFC U19 Men’s Championship in Samoa, Sets Eyes on World Cup Spot

The Fiji Junior Bula Boys are preparing for their part in the OFC U19 Men’s Championship in Samoa. This team has a mix of experienced players and those who have international exposure.

The team’s Coach, Marika Rondu, is confident in their readiness and composition before their departure. “We have put together a strong 23-member squad and the boys are eager for the championship. It was a demanding process, but we are in a good position as we enter these games,” he shared with FijiLive.

The Bula Boys team is constituted of nine players from last year’s U17 squad and includes five players based overseas. Several team members also participate in the Digicel Fiji Premier League and other competitions.

Rondu believes in the team’s readiness for the contest, saying, “They push one another during training and are prepared to face the challenge.”

The team finds itself in Group A alongside teams from Tahiti, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. The tournament is expected to be competitive, with New Zealand, New Caledonia, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea forming Group B.

The Fiji U19 team is scheduled to leave for Samoa tomorrow, with high ambitions of earning a place in next year’s World Cup. They’re set to begin their campaign against Tahiti on July 5 at 1pm.
