The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection has announced a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity Fiji to establish a Child Wellbeing Centre dedicated to aiding vulnerable children, including those who are homeless, throughout the nation’s four divisions.
The commitment was formally established with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement, an important milestone in enhancing child protection services across the country. This initiative is in alignment with the Ministry’s obligations under the Child Care and Protection Act 2024 and the Child Justice Act 2024.
The envisioned centre is designed to offer a safe, nurturing, and rehabilitative space for children in need of care and protection. It is anticipated to play a crucial role in coordinating various services, including access to social support, psychosocial care, and referral mechanisms. Additionally, the centre will implement reintegration programs aimed at aiding children in transitioning back into stable, supportive environments.
This partnership underscores a joint dedication by both the Ministry and Habitat for Humanity Fiji to improve the welfare of at-risk children, while also reinforcing the national child protection framework through effective and sustainable interventions. With this collaboration, there is a hopeful anticipation of a more supportive future for vulnerable youth in the region.
