British High Commissioner to Fiji, Dr. Brian Jones, raised alarms about Fiji’s increasing role as a transit hub for illegal drugs, citing potential public health and safety risks. The initiative will focus on upgrading technology and operational methods at customs and ports, ensuring that Fiji’s police forces are adequately prepared to address incoming illegal activities.
This collaboration builds on earlier efforts by the Fiji Police Force, which has received assistance from the British government for leadership training and the formation of specialized units aimed at tackling organized crime.
