The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a coastal inundation alert for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands in the Central and Southern Lau groups. A high-pressure system located to the southwest of Fiji is anticipated to produce and direct moderate to heavy southerly swells across the southern waters of Fiji.

Upcoming high tides and swell heights are predicted as follows:
– Friday, September 6, 2024, at 8:00 PM: 1.9 meters
– Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 8:20 AM: 1.8 meters

Possible impacts include coastal inundation with debris along low-lying areas, particularly during high tides, and the period may pose risks for recreational activities.
