The Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has expressed unwavering support for the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji (SSDPSF) amid ongoing concerns regarding derogatory remarks made by a police officer about Hindu and Muslim religious practices. Arya Sabha President Arun Padarath took a firm stance, emphasizing the organization’s collective condemnation of any speech or actions that disrespect diverse faiths.
Padarath articulated that such remarks not only inflict emotional pain on followers but also jeopardize the harmony and mutual respect essential to the foundations of Fiji’s multicultural society. He reiterated that Fiji thrives on its rich diversity and shared values of peace and tolerance. “It is imperative that all individuals, especially those in public positions, uphold these values through their conduct,” he stated.
The Arya Sabha also reaffirmed its commitment to fostering interfaith understanding and urged law enforcement to take appropriate actions regarding the complaints raised by the SSDPSF. In their collective call, they urged for ongoing initiatives directed at maintaining racial and religious harmony within Fiji, highlighting the need for places of worship to be sanctuaries of unity rather than sources of division.
Padarath further stressed the role of community leaders in promoting compassion and respect among different faiths, asserting that building a future rooted in truth, respect, righteousness, and universal brotherhood is crucial. By coming together, leaders and community members can strengthen national unity and uphold the dignity of every belief.
