The Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission has confirmed that it is looking into the situation of two inmates who recently engaged in a hunger strike at the Naboro Maximum Corrections facility.
A team from the Commission met with the inmates to understand their concerns. They reported that, according to the Fiji Corrections Service, the hunger strike was concluded last night. The Commission also stated that a medical doctor has evaluated the health of the inmates.
Furthermore, the Fiji Correction Services have indicated that their medical team will perform regular health assessments to ensure the prisoners’ physical condition remains stable after the hunger strike. They emphasized that the well-being of the inmates is a priority, and they are taking necessary measures to closely monitor their recovery.
