Fiji’s Ministers for Sugar and Agriculture, Charan Jeath Singh and Tomasi Tunabuna, are currently leading a high-profile delegation in India aimed at enhancing collaboration in agriculture, food processing, and the sugar sector. Accompanying them are Fiji Sugar Corporation Chairman Nitya Reddy and Permanent Secretary for Sugar, Dr. Vinesh Kumar, along with staff from the Fijian High Commission in New Delhi.

During their visit, the delegation engaged with India’s Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan. The minister took to social media platform X to express his satisfaction regarding the discussions. “Delighted to interact with Hon. Tomasi Tunabuna and Hon. Charan Jeath Singh. Exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in agri-value chains, food processing, and enhancing trade & investment ties,” Paswan shared.

The talks centered on exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation throughout agricultural value chains, boosting food processing capabilities, and strengthening trade and investment between Fiji and India. This engagement highlights the significant steps both nations are taking towards mutual economic benefits and partnerships.

As Charan Jeath Singh prepares to depart from his role as Sugar Minister on January 19th, responsibility for the sugar portfolio will transition to Minister Tunabuna. This shift symbolizes a continuing commitment to fostering robust agricultural policies and international cooperation in key sectors.
