Three hotels in Suva, owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), successfully raised approximately $10,000 during the 2024 Pinktober campaign. The Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn collectively participated in this fundraising effort, with the proceeds destined for the Fiji Cancer Society, WOWS Kids Fiji, and Cure Kids Fiji.

Throughout October, these three hotels organized special events that encouraged guests to engage in various pink-themed activities. Guests could enjoy pink cocktails, elegant high teas, pampering spa treatments, and the ‘Cup of Kindness’ coffee initiative. According to a statement from Intercontinental Hotels Group, 10 percent of all proceeds were allocated directly to cancer care and awareness initiatives in Fiji.

Lachlan Walker, the IHG portfolio general manager, expressed gratitude towards supporters of the campaign, acknowledging the collective effort of guests, colleagues, and the local community. He emphasized the impact of such initiatives in improving the lives of those affected by cancer in Fiji and highlighted the strength of unity and compassion in making a significant difference.

The breakdown of the funds revealed that half of the total proceeds would benefit the Fiji Cancer Society, with the other $5,000 distributed equally between WOWS Kids Fiji and Cure Kids Fiji.

This collaborative effort not only highlights the commitment of the hospitality industry to social causes but also showcases how community involvement can lead to meaningful change. The success of the Pinktober campaign serves as an inspiring reminder of the positive impact that compassion and solidarity can create within local communities, especially for those facing health challenges.
