Fiji Hosts Historic Youth Leaders Meeting to Tackle Pacific Challenges

The South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting has officially commenced in Suva, Fiji, chaired by Meli Nacuva, the Permanent Secretary of the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Nacuva welcomed all participants warmly and expressed appreciation to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) for their assistance in organizing the event. He emphasized the importance of the meeting in addressing youth challenges in the region and underscored the value of collaboration and cooperation in finding effective solutions.

Highlighting Fiji’s unique cultural diversity and renowned hospitality, Nacuva encouraged participants to fully engage during their time in Fiji and partake in meaningful discussions that could positively impact the youth of the region.

Pacific Youth Council Chair, Mahoney Mori, noted the historical significance of the meeting, referring to the youth as the “light of the Pacific.” He expressed gratitude to the Fijian Government for their traditional welcome.

In her vote of thanks, Vice Chair Melissa Bule thanked the Fijian Government for the warm reception and acknowledged the participation of senior officials from across the Pacific. She wished all attendees productive discussions and positive outcomes during the forum.

The meeting will see attendance from Permanent Secretaries and CEOs from the South Pacific, along with representatives from the Pacific Youth Council and youth representatives.
