Fiji’s Ministry of Youth and Sports is hosting the South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting, which commenced today in Suva. Permanent Secretary Meli Nacuva is leading the meeting and welcomed all participants, expressing appreciation to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) for their assistance in organizing the event.
Nacuva highlighted the importance of the gathering in tackling the challenges faced by youth in the region, underscoring the necessity of collaboration and cooperation to find effective solutions. He also mentioned Fiji’s rich cultural diversity and its renowned hospitality, encouraging attendees to fully engage in productive discussions that could positively influence young people in the Pacific.
Mahoney Mori, Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, described this meeting as historic, emphasizing the vital role of youth as the future of the Pacific. He expressed gratitude to the Fiji Government for the traditional welcome offered.
In her vote of thanks, Melissa Bule, Vice Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, acknowledged the Fiji Government for its hospitality and thanked senior officials from across the Pacific for their participation in the event. Bule wished participants meaningful dialogue and successful outcomes during the forum.
The meeting will include Permanent Secretaries and CEOs from the South Pacific, Pacific Youth Council representatives, government officials, and youth delegates.
