The President and Chancellor of the Fiji College of Honour, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, recently honored Sri Madhusudan Sai by conferring upon him the title of Honorary Companion of the Order of Fiji. This recognition acknowledges his significant humanitarian contributions, particularly through the establishment of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Fiji.
Sri Madhusudan Sai’s hospital has made remarkable strides, conducting over 360 lifesaving surgeries and more than 28,000 pediatric echocardiograms, all free of charge to patients and their families. This remarkable feat highlights a deep commitment to serving not only the local community but also children from surrounding nations.
Additional accolades were given during the investiture ceremony to Sumeet Tappoo, Chairman of the Sai Prema Foundation, and Dr. Krupali Rathod Tappoo, Director of the Children’s Hospital, for their exemplary achievements in service to Fiji and humanity.
In his address, President Ratu Naiqama emphasized the importance of the hospital’s work, noting that the provision of critical heart surgeries at no cost reflects an incredible level of compassion and dedication to humanitarian service. He further noted that the outreach efforts by the Sai Prema Foundation have significantly assisted children from orphanages and those in rural communities by bringing vital medical services directly to them.
The government’s recognition of this initiative as a successful public-private partnership underscores a collective belief that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right. This sentiment resonates with ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare in the region, fostering hope for improved medical services for all.
The ongoing collaboration among local and international medical experts, as well as humanitarian organizations, continues to create a promising future for healthcare in Fiji, making vital contributions towards the health and well-being of children and families across the Pacific. This integrated approach not only addresses immediate medical needs but also builds a foundation for long-term healthcare improvements.
