Fiji Heavyweight Title Fight Erupts in Chaos: What’s Next?

The directors of the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) were conducting an investigation into a brawl that broke out during the Fiji heavyweight title fight, as well as another related incident, at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night.

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, has instructed the Commission to disclose their decision today regarding the individuals involved in the altercation.

Saukuru expressed his concerns, stating, “We are leaving it with the Boxing Commission of Fiji board to look into it and investigate what had happened. I have shared with them my concern and the concern of Government.” He emphasized that such occurrences are unacceptable in professional boxing.

“Boxing is a sport. People are trying to exercise their power, but I have asked them to investigate,” he added. He noted that according to video footage, Dauloloma was performing well in the bout, suggesting that the situation should not have escalated.

BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that there will be a press conference in Suva this morning to address the incident.
