Fiji Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Eastern Viti Levu and Surrounding Islands with Flash Flood Risk

Weather Update

Attention, Fiji! Get ready to break out your umbrellas, because the sky is throwing a rain party, and everyone’s invited! That’s right, a heavy rain warning is in effect for the eastern half of Viti Levu, which means if you’re in the fancy neighborhoods of Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, or those snug little smaller islands, you might want to plan for a wet and wild day ahead. Make sure you check out the special bulletin for all the juicy details!

What’s going on? Well, a troublesome trough of low pressure is hovering over the region with a big cloud of discontent, showering us with rain and the occasional lightning show until tomorrow. The easterly winds are hanging around too, because they just can’t get enough of this whole “moisture” thing.

Here’s what to expect tonight and through tomorrow in our lovely archipelago:

– For all those in the East (Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa and beyond): Expect a heavy downpour that might even make your outdoor plans a little… soggy. Thunderstorms are flirting with a few areas, but don’t worry, the rain will eventually ease up to mere showers later. For tomorrow, we’re looking at a minimum of 23°C and a maximum of 29°C – not too hot, not too cold, but definitely wet!

– Out West (Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba): You’ll have some fine weather trying its best to show up, but keep an eye out for those sneaky afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The rainfall will trickle in later, likely putting a damper on your beach BBQ plans. Tomorrow’s temperatures will range from a cozy 21°C to a warm 32°C, so maybe bring the umbrella if you’re off to the beach!

– Tavua and Rakiraki: You’ll see occasional rain and thunder rumbling around. But don’t let that rain on your parade, just pack a raincoat and hope for the best! Tomorrow’s highs will be around 30°C.

– For the beautiful folks in Labasa and Savusavu: Expect a similar story with those pesky thunderstorms making appearances. Tomorrow, you’re looking at a comfy 22°C to 30°C situation, so don’t forget your rain gear!

– And let’s not forget the majestic Yasawa and Mamanuca group joining the rainfest with a sprinkle of warmth. With some heavy rain and thunderstorms, you’ll want to plan for some indoor fun – like a rain dance!

– Over on Rotuma: It’s a mixed bag with occasional showers and thunderstorms, plus an exciting range of temperatures from 23°C to 29°C. It’s sure to keep things interesting!

And for our Monday forecast? Generally cloudy with showers lingering like a guest who overstays their welcome. So, embrace the cozy, wet vibes and maybe hunker down with a good book or your favorite Netflix series. Just remember, it’s all a part of the tropical experience!
