Weather Update – Plenty of Liquid Sunshine Ahead!
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi on this fine Saturday afternoon—well, it might not be so fine for some!
So, put on your galoshes because a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is still throwing a party across the eastern half of Viti Levu! This includes our watery friends from Serua-Namosi, right through Navua-Suva-Nausori and Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, to Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and their smaller island buddies. Make sure your umbrella is in good shape; you might need it!
What’s the scoop? We’ve got a mischievous trough of low pressure hanging around, making sure everyone gets a good shower—or maybe even a spa treatment—till tomorrow night. And don’t think those strong easterly winds are just there for decoration; they’re in charge of making sure the rain arrives in style!
Here’s what to expect before you start planning a rain dance:
For cuddly communities like Navua, Suva, and Nausori: It’s going to rain cats and dogs (and a few thunderstorms!) at times. But fear not, the rain is expected to gradually ease to light showers later tomorrow. Your daily forecast: Min 23, Max 29. And don’t forget, Monday will be a little cloudy with a splash of showers—Min 22, Max 28.
Meanwhile, Sigatoka and the Coral Coast are looking at fine weather for now, but watch out for some cheeky afternoon showers and the odd thunderstorm making an appearance later today. Tomorrow’s high will reach a cozy 29 after a chilly start of 21.
Now for Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: You might want to keep a rain coat handy. There’s a rain dance party planned for the afternoon, but it should be finished by tomorrow, bringing a maximum of 32 degrees! Isn’t that sweet?
In Tavua and Rakiraki: Get ready for some rain, heavy at times, but fine weather should dominate elsewhere with some afternoon showers lurking. Tomorrow can expect a minimal chill of 23, topping at 30.
As for the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, those rain clouds are also hovering, so gear up for occasional rain and storms, but those will taper off to showers pretty soon. Tempting temperatures will be between 22 and 30 tomorrow!
Flash flooding’s on the agenda for low-lying areas, so stay alert, folks! Keep your life jackets accessible just in case things get too splashy.
And for those of you on Rotuma: Expect occasional showers wanting to join the thunderstorm fun. Monday looks like it could be mostly cloudy with some refreshing showers.
You’ve seen the weather map, folks; now just keep those umbrellas close and your spirits high! More updates tomorrow!
