Weather Alert
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 11:38am on December 30, 2025
Attention, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas, put on your rain boots, and maybe even don a snorkel, because we’ve got a HEAVY RAIN ALERT in place for the entire archipelago! If you’re wondering why it feels like a soggy sponge outside, that’s because an active trough low pressure is creeping in from the west, ready to give us all a taste of its wetness starting later today and sticking around until Thursday.
Now, here’s what to expect until midnight tomorrow across our beautiful islands:
You’ll find partly cloudy skies with a sprinkle here and a shower there—don’t be surprised if Mother Nature decides to throw in a little afternoon drama with some thunderstorms, especially over the western Viti Levu region from Rakiraki to Sigatoka, as well as over the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups and the western parts of Vanua Levu. Rain will show up uninvited tonight and become the life of the party, possibly bringing along some heavy downpours and a few thunderous claps for good measure.
Elsewhere, things will be relatively fine—just the occasional shy shower or two making an appearance in the afternoons or evenings. But don’t get too comfy; expect occasional rain, possibly heavy, with more thunder from tomorrow onward.
Oh, and heads up for low-lying and flood-prone areas—localized heavy falls could mean flash flooding, so keep that in mind if you were thinking of taking a late-night stroll!
The winds will be moderate to fresh, blowing from the north to northwest, creating moderate to rough seas.
Now, let’s take a closer look at what’s cooking in different towns:
**For Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Today’s forecast looks fine enough, with a 31-degree high getting compliments from the sunshine—until those sneaky showers and thunderstorms crash the party tomorrow, bringing heavy rain and a maximum of 29 degrees.
**For Natadradave/Korovou:** Expect the same friendly face today, with a maximum of 31. Tomorrow, get ready for another round of showers, heavy at times, with temperatures cooling down to a high of 29.
**For Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** It might be partly cloudy today, but expect rain to make an entrance tonight, and things getting steamy again with a max of 30 tomorrow.
**For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: **You’ll have brief encounters with showers today before things ramp up tonight with some heavier downpours and a high of 30 tomorrow.
**For Tavua/Rakiraki:** A calm start gives way to a more eventful evening with rain; today’s max is another 32, and tomorrow peaks at 30.
**For Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** Expect lovely pockets of sunshine today (max 31), while the rain waves crash in later tonight.
**For Labasa:** Cloudy weather with brief showers welcomes you today (max 32), while tomorrow beckons for a moody atmosphere as rain arrives.
And for our friends on Postcard Perfect islands: **In Rotuma,** the heavy rain alert means expect a slightly soggy day, with a max of 31 and gusty winds to add some drama to your sunshine.
So, there you have it! Hunker down, prepare for some rain-soaked adventures, and keep those rubber duckies handy because it looks like there’s a splashin’ good time ahead in Fiji!
