Attention, weather enthusiasts! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is in effect for the northern and eastern parts of our beloved Fiji group. It’s the perfect excuse to stay indoors, grab that cozy blanket, and have a binge-watching session!
Here’s the scoop: A sneaky trough of low pressure has decided to crash the party, bringing along clouds and rain. Meanwhile, a moist north to northwest wind flow continues to flirt with the island breezes. It’s like nature’s way of reminding us to keep our umbrellas handy!
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Prepare for some occasional rain and possibly a few dramatic thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and their smaller island pals, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Good news, though—it looks like the rain will tone it down to simple showers starting tomorrow.
Over in the Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Tavua-Rakiraki areas, expect a modest mix of cloudy periods with some unexpected showers making an entrance. Our friends in the interior of Ba and Ra, plus Naitasiri and Tailevu North, will also be enjoying some shower action.
Everywhere else is staging a fine weather show, but don’t be surprised by those afternoon or evening shower surprises and thunderstorms. Just a heads-up: localised heavy falls could lead to flash floods, especially in those low-lying flood-prone areas, as well as in small rivers and streams. So keep your wellies nearby!
Outlook for Sunday: More of the same cloudy periods with showers over Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Tavua-Rakiraki, the superb interior spots of Ba and Ra, plus Naitasiri and Tailevu North, and the vibrant Bua-Lekutu-Dreketi-Seaqaqa-Labasa-Namuka-Udu point areas. And yes, more of those beloved afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms! Flash flood risks are still in play, so remain vigilant.
