Fiji Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Yasawa, Eastern Viti Levu and Northern Division with Flash Flood Risk

Weather Update

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45 am, Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is currently in effect for Yasawa, the eastern half of Viti Levu (that’s Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra), the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those charming nearby smaller islands. It looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit generous with the waterworks!

So, what’s cooking? A trough of low pressure is hanging out over the eastern parts, planning to strengthen its influence tomorrow. As a result, you can expect clouds, showers, and some serious rain to impact parts of our beautiful islands until Monday. Get ready for an aquatic adventure!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Today: Expect occasional showers and maybe a lightning show over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and their lovely little neighbors. Isolated heavy falls may cause some surprise guests – aka flash floods – in low-lying areas. Meanwhile, it’ll be drier, apart from the typical afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms elsewhere.

Tomorrow: Hold on tight! Occasional rain, which may come down in bucketloads, along with a few thunderstorms, will drench Yasawa and the eastern half of Viti Levu (same areas as before). Just a heads up, localised heavy falls can cause flash flooding in some low-lying spots, so check your rubber boots! Expect a partly cloudy day with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms in other regions. Moderate to fresh southeast winds will eventually switch to east to southeast.

Oh, and if you’re brave enough to venture into the sea, expect moderate to rough conditions out there!

Outlook for Monday: More rain is on the way—heavy in some spots and accompanied by a few thunderclaps! Rain will ease to showers as the day wears on, leaving room for that glorious sunshine to peek through later.

Now, a breakdown for specific areas:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Showers and occasional thunderstorms. Expect showers to turn into full-on rainfall tomorrow. Max today: 30. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 28.

– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Stay fabulous! It’s looking fine apart from those pesky afternoon/evening showers and thunderstorms. Max today: 31. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 30.

– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: Keep your shades close as today looks fine, but don’t be surprised by afternoon or evening downpours. Max today: 33. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 31.

– **Yasawa/Mamanuca group**: Fine today apart from some possible evening showers. Tomorrow, expect those clouds to rumble! Max today: 31. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 30.

– **Kadavu and nearby islands**: You’re not escaping the rain either—be ready for some heavy falls starting tomorrow! Max today: 30. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 28.

– **Rotuma**: A southeasterly wind is your friend today, but make room for rain tomorrow! Cloudy periods and brief showers for now. Max today: 32. Tomorrow’s min: 25, max: 31.

So there you have it! Dust off your rain gear, stay dry, and if you spot a boat racing by, just know they might be ahead of the curve in embracing the water world we’re in for!
