Fiji Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Eastern Half of Viti Levu with Thunderstorms and Flood Risk

Weather Forecast: The Rainy Chronicles

Good morning, folks! It’s your daily forecast coming out of the National Weather Forecasting Centre at the crack of dawn on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Strap in, because it looks like the Eastern half of Viti Levu is getting ready for a watery party. Yes, indeed, heavy rain alert is dancing over areas from Serua-Namosi all the way to Ra, including the Yasawa, Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and some nearby smaller islands. No need to check your weather apps; just trust me, it’s coming down!

So, what’s brewing? A trough of low pressure is acting like that one friend who shows up uninvited—bringing clouds, showers, and rain that are ruling the eastern and northern parts of the country, while the easterly winds are trying to keep things breezy.

Here’s a sneak peek at how your Saturday will unfold: think occasional rain, and when I say occasional, I mean it’ll come like your favorite soap opera—sometimes heavy and followed by dramatic thunderstorms in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Yasawa, and company. Flash floods are on the guest list too, so if you live in low-lying areas, keep your umbrellas handy and your sandals ready to flee.

Now, let’s chat about Sunday. More of that rain will be playing the lead role over the same regions, likely with some isolated heavy falls trying to steal the show. For the rest, expect occasional showers and a few surprise thunderstorms just to keep things spicy. A gentle reminder: localised heavy falls may lead to more flash flooding fun, so keep those rain boots within arm’s reach!

Here’s the scoop for specific areas:

Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect an encore of occasional rain and thunderstorms. The temperature will be a cozy Min: 23, Max: 29.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: It’ll be fine and dandy, with a smidge of rain in the afternoon. Min: 22, Max: 30.
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Same script as Sigatoka—mostly fine but afternoon mischief with showers and thunderstorms! Min: 22, Max: 31.
Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms with hints of sunshine doing their best to sneak through. Min: 23, Max: 31.
Natadradave/Korovou: Rain and thunder are on the agenda again! Just keep those umbrellas open. Min: 23, Max: 29.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Rain and the occasional clap of thunder; the party keeps rolling! Min: 24, Max: 30.
Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, and the rest of our lovely islands have similar rain-heavy stories to tell. So grab a raincoat, put on those dance moves, and wade happily through the puddles because, in our beautiful island paradise, the show must go on!

Stay safe, keep smiling, and let’s hope the sun decides to join the fun soon!
