Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still in effect for Yasawa, the eastern half of Viti Levu (including the impressive trio of Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra), the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those cheeky little nearby islands.
What’s going on? A little trough of low pressure is partying over the eastern parts of our beautiful islands and is looking to strengthen its grip tomorrow. That’s right—clouds, showers, and a hearty dose of rain are marching through and will continue their parade until Monday.
Here’s what you can expect as we roll into midnight tomorrow:
Today:
Enjoy an occasional shower and just a sprinkle of isolated thunderstorms over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and those convenient nearby islands. Kadavu and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups might toss in a couple of heavy falls for good measure. Elsewhere, it’ll be fine—just the usual afternoon or evening showers and, who knows, maybe a thunderstorm for drama!
Tomorrow:
Prepare for another round of occasional rain, with heavy times and a few thunderstorms over Yasawa and the aforementioned regions. Remember our old friends, localized heavy falls? They could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas—talk about a nature spa! The rest of us will be partaking in partly cloudy skies, with a splash of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Winds are moderate to fresh from the southeast, switching east to southeast in the grand tradition of wind drama. Sea conditions? Moderate to rough—hold onto your hats!
Outlook for Monday:
You guessed it—more rain, heavy at times, accompanied by a few thunderous roars in Yasawa, eastern Viti Levu, and beyond. The rain will eventually ease to the usual showers later in the day while the rest of us enjoy those fine conditions with mere afternoon or evening sprinkles.
Now, for those who want to plan their day by the weather:
Navua/Suva/Nausori:
Keep an eye out for those occasional shows and thunderstorms. Showers will become more frequent tomorrow. Expect a low of 23°C and a comfy high of 28°C. Monday peeks in with the same theme.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast:
Today’s a fine day, but keep those raincoats handy for later showers. Tomorrow’s high is around 30°C after a low of 23°C.
Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:
Expect fine conditions with a sprinkle of afternoon fun. Tomorrow will see highs of 31°C after a balmy low of 23°C.
Tavua/Rakiraki:
The same sunny story, folks! Tomorrow’s going to be warm at 31°C after a lovely low of 23°C.
For everyone else across various regions (Natadradave/Korovou, Yasawa/Mamanuca, Labasa, and others), expect similar storytelling—a blend of fine weather with afternoon excitement and a hearty chance of thunderstorms.
And let’s not forget Rotuma, which is getting cloudy with brief showers before joining in on the show’s heavier acts tomorrow and beyond.
In summary, it looks like we’re in for a wet and wild weekend ahead! Be sure to keep your rain gear at the ready and consider any flash flooding risk if you live in low-lying areas. Stay safe and laugh with Mother Nature!
