Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, at 3:30 PM on December 12, 2025.
Attention, Fiji! Our heavy rain party continues, and everyone’s invited! A heavy rain alert is trending across the entire Fiji group, so don’t forget your umbrellas – and maybe a life jacket!
What’s the weather gossip? A sluggish trough of low pressure is hanging around like that friend who overstays their welcome, making sure we’re graced with clouds and rain until next week. So, don your best raincoat and prepare for some adventure!
Looking ahead to midnight tomorrow, we’re expecting occasional rain, possibly heavy enough for a boat to float by! The northern parts of Vanua Levu – think Bua, Lekutu, Dreketi, Seaqaqa, Labasa, Namuka, and Udu Point – are in for a thunderstorm light show. Similarly, on the western and northern sides of Viti Levu (Hello Momi, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, and Ra!) and in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, the forecast is basically a forecast of occasional rain and a few surprise thunderstorms. Bring popcorn for the stormy entertainment!
Now let’s talk about the potential for flash flooding in those low-lying areas – we know it sounds more like a water park than a weather update, but please take care! Moderate north to northeast winds will freshen things up like a cool breeze on a scorching day – but hey, don’t forget, seas may be moderate to rough, so maybe steer clear of those jet ski adventures for a while!
For the Sunday forecast: you guessed it, more occasional rain and a handful of thunderstorms to keep things exciting.
Here’s the breakdown for some local areas:
Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect rain and a few thunderstorms beckoning in the afternoon. Tomorrow’s temperature is set to be quite cozy, with a min of 23 and max of 29 – perfect for an indoor movie marathon!
