Weather Update
Listen up, folks! It’s 10:45 AM on February 5, 2026, and here’s the scoop from our trusty National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi. You might want to grab an umbrella (or two) because a HEAVY RAIN ALERT has just rolled out like a red carpet for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and their little island buddies. And as if that wasn’t enough, those charming Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, along with parts of Viti Levu—think Nadi to Lautoka and all the way through Tavua to Ra-Rakiraki—are joining the wet party!
The culprit? A troublesome trough of low pressure hanging out in the northern Division, throwing shade and rain on our lovely islands. But fear not! This gloomy cloud is expected to wobble southward and bid adieu by Saturday.
Here’s what to expect until midnight tomorrow for the fabulous Fiji group:
Today: Prepare for sporadic rain and the occasional thunderstorm—because who doesn’t love a little lightshow? You’ll likely see some heavy downpours over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and nearby islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Hints of showers will be floating around Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nasinu-Korovou, Yasawa, and Mamanuca groups. Keep your eyes peeled for some thunderstorms popping up later today, complete with the potential for heavy falls.
Meanwhile, if you’re somewhere else in Fiji, you might get lucky with mainly fine weather, but don’t forget to keep that umbrella nearby for those afternoon or evening surprises.
Tomorrow: The rain continues its performance with a few thunderstorms and the chance of isolated heavy falls across Vanua Levu, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and that Kumbaya of Nadi-Lautoka-Ba through Tavua to Ra-Rakiraki. Expect the occasional shower and, yes, more thunderstorms dropping in for a visit.
Water-wise, we’ve got moderate southeast to northwest winds and seas that are feeling just okay—nothing too rough, but also nothing to bring your beach towel out for.
Looking ahead to Saturday: Get ready for a smattering of occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms across pretty much all of Fiji. The rain might ease down to showers as the day progresses, but let’s not pretend it won’t still soak the low-lying flood-prone areas.
Let’s break it down area by area:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Today’s high will reach 33°C, with occasional showers and those cheeky thunderstorms making an appearance. Tomorrow’s looking similar, so bring that raincoat along!
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Maxing out at a sizzling 35°C today with some rain and thunder to shake things up a bit! Keep an eye on the skies!
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Looking good for now with a max of 34°C, but expect those afternoon showers or thunderstorms to crash the party.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca: Not too bad today with a high of 34°C and a touch of thunderstorms later. Keep those flip-flops handy—they might just float away!
For Labasa and Savusavu: Expect a replay of showers and thunderstorms with highs around 34°C. Perfect weather for a cozy day indoors!
And for those in Rotuma: Our heavy rain alert is still waving its flag. You can expect some serious downpours and a max temp around 31°C. Hold onto your hats out there!
So there you have it, folks! Don’t forget those umbrellas or your favorite rain dance—it appears this week is going to be a real humdinger! Stay dry (or enjoy the rain if you’re into that sort of thing)!
