Weather Alert

Attention, Fiji residents! It seems Mother Nature decided to throw a heavy rain party, and you’re all invited! The rain alert is in effect for the entire Fiji group, so grab your umbrellas, goulash, and maybe a boat—or at least a good pair of galoshes.

Here’s the scoop: there’s a rather sluggish trough of low pressure hovering over us, bringing along a cloud parade and ample showers. Hold onto your raincoats as we look ahead to midnight tomorrow!

In the Northern Division and the Western and Northern Viti Levu regions (that’s Momi-Nadi-Ba-Ra for the map-challenged), expect occasional rain, with heavy downpours taking the stage. Thunderstorms might even crash the party because who doesn’t love a good finale?

Elsewhere, occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms will also join the fun, leading to moderate east to northerly winds stirring things up. And for those daring enough to venture out, brace for moderate to rough seas, ideal for a channeling your inner pirate! Arrr!

Let’s gaze into the crystal ball for Saturday’s forecast: more of the same! Think of it as “Rain: The Sequel,” featuring occasional rain and some guest thunderstorms. Flash floods may be lurking around low-lying areas, so keep those water wings handy.

Now, here’s a summary of your local weather fortune:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm cameo. Tomorrow’s forecast shows a minimum of 23 and a maximum of 29 degrees.

For Natadradave/Korovou: Same story — just add rain and a few thunderous friends. Expect the same temperatures as Navua.

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You guessed it—rain’s the name of the game, with the mercury hitting between 23 and 30 degrees.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Expect showers and that occasional thunderstorm to make your day interesting. Tomorrow brings a range of 23 to 30 degrees.

For Tavua/Rakiraki: More rain drama, with tomorrow’s temperatures mirroring those of Sigatoka.

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Rain, heavy at times, takes the spotlight. Get ready for 23 to 30 degrees tomorrow.

For Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti group, and Kadavu: Rain continues to reign supreme. Keep those thermometers dancing between 23 and 30 degrees, give or take, depending on your location.

For Rotuma: A breezy northeast wind may turn into occasional showers and suspected thunderstorms. Tomorrow’s range will have you enjoying a warm 25 to 29 degrees.

Bottom line: it’s going to rain, folks! Just remember to keep your spirits high and your umbrellas handy, as we embrace this rain-filled rendezvous together!
