Weather Update

Good day, fellow weather enthusiasts! Buckle up because Mother Nature has decided to crank up the dial on our rain gauges, and she’s not holding back! As of this morning, December 31, 2025, the entire Fiji Group is under a heavy rain alert, which means you might want to keep your umbrellas close and your raincoats even closer!

What’s the scoop, you ask? Well, there’s an active trough of low pressure – yes, that’s right, not a “low pressure” day but quite the active one – rolling in from the west. It should be making itself comfortable in our vicinity until Thursday. So, expect quite the soggy welcome!

Tonight’s forecast for our beloved Fiji: get ready for occasional rain and a few thunderstorms making a dramatic entrance from the west. If you live in low-lying or flood-prone areas, keep your boots handy, as we may see localised heavy falls that are eager to make a splash!

Winds are set to be moderate to fresh, ideal for flying a kite—unless, of course, you’re flying it in the rain. And expect the seas to be moderate to rough. Probably not the best day for a tender swim, unless you fancy surfing the waves!

Thursday doesn’t seem too keen on letting up, with occasional heavy rain and a few more thunderstorms inviting themselves over most places. But fear not! The rain is expected to ease from the west later in the day — might even see a rainbow if we’re lucky!

Here’s what the forecast looks like for our key spots:
