Fiji Heavy Rain Alert: Flash Flood Risk Across Eastern Viti Levu, Yasawa, Northern Division and Surrounding Islands

Weather Update: The Rain Dance is On!

Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Center Nadi at 11:43 PM on November 7th, 2025.

Attention all rain enthusiasts! The heavens are showing no signs of letting up, so grab your umbrellas and get ready for the wettest show in town! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is officially in effect for the eastern half of Viti Levu—think Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori to Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, along with Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those charming little islands nearby. Check out the special bulletin for more details; it’s a page-turner!

Current Situation: A trough of low pressure is hanging around the eastern parts of the country like that one friend who overstays their welcome. Meanwhile, a refreshing northeasterly wind flow is trying to keep us on the sunny side of life.

Forecast for the Fiji group through midnight tomorrow:

**Today:** Get ready for some cloud cover with intermittent showers! Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and our friends in Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and all those small islands will be in the thick of it. If you’re lucky enough to be in areas with less rain, you might still be graced with isolated afternoon or evening showers—and possibly lightning that would make Zeus a bit jealous! Thunderstorms will be crashing the party over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, particularly in their southern tropics, so be prepared for possible flash flooding—nobody wants to float away like they’re on a lazy river!

**Tomorrow:** Looks like someone ordered more rain! Expect occasional downpours, with a chance of thunderstorms over the usual suspects: Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, and friends in Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those small islands again. Other areas may get lucky with fine weather, punctuated by afternoon or evening showers and a dramatic thunderstorm appearance—flash flooding risk is still on the table.

**Sunday Outlook:** Rain will continue, much like a bad sitcom, with heavy moments and a few thunderous guest appearances. Winds will remain moderate and seas charitably calm.
