Weather Update – Friday the 13th Edition!
Attention, Fiji! We’re putting on our raincoats and galoshes today because our good friends at the National Weather Forecasting Centre have issued a HEAVY RAIN ALERT for the entire Fiji group. Yes, it seems the sky has decided to throw a party, and everyone’s invited! Get ready for some moist fun in the form of showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two – you know, just for drama!
Here’s the forecast until midnight tomorrow:
Today: Expect some occasional rain, and when we say occasional, we mean it’s going to rain hard enough at times to consider investing in an inflatable boat. There will be isolated thunderstorms to spice things up. You might want to break out your trusty umbrella – just don’t let it take off like Mary Poppins!
Tonight: The rain should calm down somewhat, tapering to lighter showers. Still, keep an eye on those puddles, as persistent heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you see a canoe passing by your house, you might be in trouble!
Tomorrow: For the northern parts of Viti Levu [Ba-Tavua-Ra-Rakiraki], Northern Bua, Macuata, Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups, expect brief showers. Elsewhere, it will be fine weather for most of the day – until the afternoon when clouds might roll in to rain on our picnic (figuratively speaking)! Thunder and heavy falls may join the fun in the late afternoon or evening with winds that gently remind you that “Moderate” doesn’t mean “nonexistent.”
And what’s on the horizon for Sunday? The weather gods are apparently feeling generous as the outlook predicts generally fine conditions with only a sprinkle of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Just enough to keep the umbrella rental businesses going!
Let’s break it down by location:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori:
Today: Frequent rain and the occasional thunderstrike should keep things lively. Max: 31°C.
Tomorrow: Expect a fine day except for possible afternoon thunderstorms. Min: 25°C, Max: 33°C.
Sunday: More sunshine with the possibility of some drizzle in the evening. Min: 24°C, Max: 33°C.
For Labasa:
Today: Just like the rest of us, Labasa will be gracing us with occasional rain and a thunderous ambiance. Max: 32°C.
Tomorrow: Prepare for a brief shower, like a surprise guest at a party! Min: 25°C, Max: 32°C.
Sunday: We’re looking at fair skies, with just some distant thunder to keep you guessing. Min: 25°C, Max: 33°C.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:
Today: Occasional rain and thunderstorms may inspire creative indoor activities. Max: 32°C.
Tomorrow: Brief showers will make an appearance, but mostly, we’ll have clear sailing ahead. Min: 25°C, Max: 32°C.
Sunday: Sunny skies with a sprinkle of late afternoon amazement (thunderstorms). Min: 24°C, Max: 33°C.
And the drama continues under heavy clouds for everyone else throughout the Fiji group, so pack an umbrella and perhaps a deck of cards for when the rain keeps you inside. Stay dry, friends, and remember that February might bring rain, but it also brings plenty of warmth and sunshine right around the corner!
